Refrigeration
- Keep fresh meat at 40°F or below
- Store in the coldest part of your refrigerator
- Use within 3-5 days of purchase
- Keep meat in its original packaging until ready to use
Freezing
- Freeze meat as soon as possible after purchase
- Use freezer-safe packaging or vacuum seal
- Label packages with date and contents
- Ground meat: 3-4 months, Steaks: 6-12 months
Thawing
- Thaw in refrigerator (safest method)
- Allow 24 hours for every 5 pounds
- Never thaw at room temperature
